Reading

We have had a fun time reading Henry and Mudge books this past week and this week we will be reading Frog and Toad books.  Reading groups are going well.  Thanks for reading those short stories from Read Well with your children.  Keep a collection of them in a folder at home so they can pull out one every once in a while and read one.

Spelling

I am trying to send home the next week’s spelling list in the Thursday folders so you can work on them over the weekend.  Remember Test day is Friday!  I can sure tell who works at home on those words.  We do a few activities here at school with them but we are very limited on time.

Writing

We stared an outline for a paragraph about fall to go with our leaf silhouettes We will be writing the paragraph soon.  Ask your child what part of fall they enjoy and what will be in their paragraph.

Math

Our main focus is seeing the relationship between addition and subtraction.  Please practice the math facts with your child for 5 minutes every night.  We need to have a solid base so we can move on to higher level math concepts.

Science

We have been talking about environments and different habitats.  We will focus on the life cycle of a frog this week.  I ordered some tadpoles so that we can see the process of metamorphosis right before our eyes.

Social Skill

Congratulations to Ryan Rogers our winner this month!

How to get a Teacher’s Attention

He will get to go bowling on Friday.

It was hard to choose because they are all learning how to use this skill successfully.  Check out the Website for pictures and more information. www.choteauschools.com
