4th Grade Newsletter
Mrs. Christensen Mrs. Ketcham May 8, 2008
Reading: Because of the Science Expo and the next three field trips, we won’t introduce a new story this week. Instead, we will use the reading time next week to research and write our famous/important Montanans reports.
Spelling: Your child should have brought home Lesson 27 in their Thursday folder. The spelling focus for this lesson is homophones – words that sound alike, but have different spelling and meaning. The students will need to know the meaning of the word to know which spelling is correct. Remember the spelling test is on Wednesday.
Math: The students continue learning multi-digit multiplication. The students are learning the steps to multiply numbers such as 567X42. Please take opportunities to practice multiplication Rocket Math. Not knowing the facts slows down the process.
Prehistoric Trunk: We have gotten another trunk to study. The prehistoric trunk will tie in nicely with our Antelope Butte/Old North Trail field trip next week.
States and Rivers Quizzes: Don’t forget your child should be practicing the rivers and states & capitals. We will continue to have quizzes throughout the remainder of the year.
Cattlewomen’s Field Trip Rescheduled: The Cattlewomen’s field trip has been rescheduled for Thursday, May 15th. The Teton Cattlewomen provide lunch for the students that day, so your child will not need a lunch for that day.
Science Expo Next Week
Your child should be about ready for the Science Expo next Wednesday, May 14th. The students may purchase a science board from the elementary office for $3. Remember, all 4th grade students are required to participate in the Expo.
Your child will need to bring his/her Expo project to school on the day of the 14th. They can set up in the elementary gym between 8:00 and 8:30 AM. The Expo will be open to the public during these times: 10-11 AM and 12:30-1:30 PM. Students will then be expected to clean up and take home their Expo projects that day. We are dismissed at 2:00 that day.
