MUSIC NOTES:

OCTOBER 2007

Choteau High School sophomores Marissa McCormick and Grady Sinton have been chosen to participate in the 2007 All-State Gala Concert. Marissa will be playing French horn in the All-State Band and Grady will be singing tenor in the All-State Choir. Students are chosen through taped audition, with approximately 380 students being selected statewide. This is the second year Marissa has been chosen for this honor. Marissa and Grady will be traveling to Billings during the Montana Music Educators’ Conference, October 18-19, to rehearse for two full days and perform in the Gala Concert Friday evening. Also performing will be the All-State Orchestra. Congratulations Marissa and Grady– we are proud of you!

The Fall Band and Choral Concert for grades 7-12 is scheduled for October 30 at 6:30 p.m. in the high school auditorium. Admission is $3.00 for adults, $2.00 for students. Activity tickets and senior passes are accepted.

It has been four years since the last high school mass band was held in our area. This year, Dutton-Brady Schools has graciously extended an invitation to us and we have accepted. The mass band event will take place on November 5, 2007 in Brady. The students will rehearse all day under the direction of a guest conductor and present a concert at 6:30 p.m. in the Brady School gymnasium. All friends and family are welcome and to attend. There is no charge for this event.

Good News! We have a web site!! It is still in the early stages, but there is a welcome page, monthly calendars of music events, news articles, and more on the way. The address is: http://choteauschools.net. Then click on the Middle and High School Music link. Check back often – I will keep updating and adding new items frequently.
