Physics
Purpose: The student will gain both the knowledge and lab techniques needed to successfully complete a college physics course. They will be able to construct and perform labs, as well as have the problem solving abilities needed at the college level.
Credit: In order to receive credit the student will be graded on Daily work, Labs, Quizzes and Tests. They will be averaged separately then averaged together to reach the final percentage. Each student is also required to keep a portfolio that will contain handouts, lab reports, quizzes and tests from through out the semester.
Materials: For the class each student is required to have an 1 ½ “ Three Ring Binder, a protractor, a metric ruler and a scientific calculator. They will receive other materials as the year progresses.
Semester Tests: If a student does not miss more than 3 non-school related days in the class and has a 92% or better average for the semester, then that student will be given the option of taking the semester test. If they choose to take the test, the test cannot lower the grade that student has already achieved. However; it can raise that student’s grade for the semester.
Extra Credit: Extra credit is not given. If a student falls behind in the course it is more important that he/she make up the work missed and at the same time stay with the class. Extra credit takes away the time needed to get caught up.
