7th Grade Mathematics

Grade Levels: 7
Length of Course: 1 year
Description:  In this course students will study important middle grade mathematics concepts and see how they are related.  The students will also find a gradual approach to understanding the underlying principles of algebra and geometry.

Course Text:  McDougal Littel.  Passport to Mathematics

Course Requirements:  1. Homework assignments will be given daily and posted on the whiteboard for students' reference.  These will be graded at the beginning of the class the following day.  2.  Tests will be given at the end of each completed chapter.  Each test will be worth 100 points.  Students are allowed to retake all tests given after the first test has all mistakes corrected.  The two (2) tests will be averaged to get the final grade.  If for some reason the retake is lower than the first test then the first test then the first test score will be kept.  3. Quizzes will be given periodically. Notes will be allowed during all quizzes; therefore good notes will be beneficial.  4.  Notes taken will be worth 1 point per day.  Notes will be collected and graded at the end of each chapter.

Grading: Tests  55%, Quizzes 5%, Homework 35%, Notes 5%.
